Dear friends:
“Master, I want to see”
In this Sunday Gospel, a blind man, Barthimaeus, incessantly called upon
Jesus, the Son of David, to have pity on him. When Jesus finally stopped
and said: “call him,” the blind man threw aside his cloak, sprang up and
came to Jesus who then asked him: what can I do for you? Barthimaeus
said without hesitation: “Master, I want to see” He did not ask for money,
power, honor, but for what is essential for his life, the recovery of his sight,
not only physical sight, but spiritual sight. He wanted to see with the eyes
of the heart. Only Jesus the Son of David, the Messiah, can help him to see
clearly with the eyes of the heart.
Today, in the midst of darkness, confusion, reject of facts and truth in which
our world is found itself, more than ever we are in great need of recovery of
spiritual sight. Each one of us, like the blind man in the gospel, needs to
turn to Jesus, the Son of David, the source of Wisdom and ask Him to have
pity on us. We need Jesus Christ to help us see with the eyes of the heart
so that we can accept truth and reject Satan, the father of lies. What we
really need is clairvoyance. As the Little Prince of St. Exupery said: “We can
only see well with the heart, what is essential is invisible to the eyes.”
Let us ask the Lord to strengthen our faith so that like the blind man
Bartimaeus we can daily turn to Jesus and humbly said: “Master, I want to
see”

have found that sickness and age are limiting activities that they
once enjoyed helping our community with.
We pray that you see a need that you can help with at St.
Pius X Parish and that you are willing to commit time to
assist us to continue our ministries or begin a new one.
