Come Home to Mercy – The Light Is On for You A Diocesan Lenten Initiative
There is a quiet but powerful moment each Holy Week when the doors of the Church are opened wide and the invitation is simple: come home.
On Monday, March 30th, from 4:00 to 7:00pm at our Lourdes Campus (Utica Vicariate Location), the Light Is On Campaign offers an opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation no appointment, no pressure, just the mercy of God waiting for you.
This beautiful Lenten tradition brings together all priests from the Greater Utica Area, who will be present at the Lourdes campus and available to hear Confessions for the entire community. Whether it has been a few months, many years, or you are unsure how to begin, you are welcome. Simply come at any time during these hours.
Jesus is not waiting to judge you. Jesus is waiting to receive you. If there is anything weighing on your heart, anything that has kept you away, anything you have been carrying alone this is your moment. Return to the Lord. Come home to mercy.
Mark your calendar. Invite a friend. The Light Is On For You. |

Lenten Holy Hours with Confessions
|
|
Join us each Wednesday during Lent 5:30–6:30pm (April 1st)
Spend an hour with the Lord in Eucharistic prayer and take advantage of the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Confession is a personal encounter with the mercy of Jesus Christ where sins are forgiven, hearts are healed, and grace is restored.
How to make a good Confession:
- Prayerfully examine your conscience.
- Express sincere sorrow for your sins.
- Confess your sins honestly and simply.
- Receive absolution and complete your penance.
Confessions are also heard every Saturday at Lourdes from 3:00–3:45pm.
Return to the Lord this Lent. His mercy is waiting. |

Tenebrae – Service of Light
|
|
Later that evening, the Church gathers once more in a powerful and ancient prayer known as Tenebrae.
At 8:00pm on Good Friday at the Lourdes campus, we enter into a liturgy marked by shadow, silence, and light gradually fading into darkness.
Candles are extinguished one by one. The church grows dim. We feel the weight of the tomb.
This is a rare and moving experience one that allows us to enter more deeply into the sorrow of the day, and the stillness that follows Christ’s death.
And yet, even in the darkness, there is a quiet sense that the story is not over.
Come and experience this sacred moment. Let the silence speak. |

Pontifical Good Friday Collection
|
|
Pope Francis has asked our parish to support the Pontifical Good Friday Collection, which helps Christians in the Holy Land where they are now less than 2% of the population. Your support is essential to help the Church minister in parishes, provide Catholic schools and offer religious education.
The Pontifical Good Friday Collection also helps to preserve the sacred shrines of Christianity, including in Jerusalem, Nazareth and Bethlehem to name only a few. When you contribute to the Pontifical Good Friday Collection, you join with Catholics around the work in solidarity with the Church in the Holy Land.
Thank you for your generosity. |

The Peter J. Curley Memorial - Easter Egg Hunt
|
|
Even in the midst of the solemn beauty of Holy Week, there is room for joy especially for our children.
On Holy Saturday, April 4th at 12:00pm at the Seton Center, all families are invited to gather for the Peter J. Curley Memorial Easter Egg Hunt, generously sponsored by our parish Men’s Club.
This event is more than just an egg hunt. It is a moment of community. A moment of laughter. A moment where the joy of Easter begins to break through especially in the hearts of our youngest parishioners.
As children run and search and celebrate, we are reminded that Easter is not only proclaimed it is experienced.
This joyful tradition, offered in memory of Peter J. Curley, continues to bring families together and strengthens the bonds of our parish community.
All are welcome. Bring your children. Invite a friend.
And come experience the joy that always accompanies the promise of new life. |
