From the Desk of Father John
This week we celebrate the Feast of the Exhortation of the Holy Cross. This feast dates back to the early Church,
when St. Helen discovered the remnants of the Cross of Christ while on pilgrimage in Jerusalem. After discovering the
remains of three different crosses, St. Helen verified the discovery of the true Cross from the miraculous healing that occurred
after touching it to a very ill woman.

Irregular Parking - Compromising Law and Safety
It has been long-noticed that there are numerous
parishioners who are violating parking laws, which
interrupt traffic flow and compromise the community
safety of our parishioners.
Specifically, there are
numerous individuals who choose to park their
automobiles along the yellow curbing at the front
entrances to our property, not only during
weekend Masses, but also during weekday Masses,
even at 7:00am! The problem is that parking along
yellow curbing is illegal. The curbing is yellow for a
reason! It is meant to tell everyone to keep the area
clear of obstruction for the sake of effective traffic
flow, the easy access of police and fire department
vehicles in the event of an emergency, and to
ensure the care and safety of parishioners entering
and exiting the church building.
On school
mornings, such illegal parking also interrupts the
ease with which parents access our property for
the safe and expeditious drop-off of students each
day. The City of Plantation Police Department,
although exceedingly tolerant of these irregularities,
has taken notice of this growing problem. No one
should be parking along the yellow curbing in either
of our main entrances to the church, whether the
south entrance or the north entrance. The Police
Department will soon be issuing warnings and then
citations for illegal parking. Please be aware of this
fact and please adjust your parking patterns
accordingly. |
